At 100 orders per month, net profit per month (after ad spend, before monthly plan costs) is:
| Platform | Monthly net | 40% price | Break-even price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🛍️ Shopify | $1,918.00 | $25.92 | $15.24 |
| 🎨 Etsy | $1,672.00 | $29.60 | $16.52 |
| 📦 Amazon FBA | $1,167.00 | $40.16 | $21.26 |
Monthly net = net profit per order × orders per month. 40% price = price for 40% gross margin before ads (approximate, as higher price raises percentage fees). Break-even price = profit $0.
Follow the money, step by step:
Then check your ads:
Max CAC = Gross profit. If ad spend per order is higher than Max CAC, you lose money on that order — even if ROAS looks high.
Example — one $34.99 Shopify sale, visual split:
🟧 Cost $14.50 (41%) 🟦 Fee $1.31 (4%) 🟩 Profit $19.18 (55%) — Total $34.99
ROAS rule, visual: ❌ Below break-even (e.g. 1.82x for this Shopify example) = losing money on ads | ✅ Above break-even = profitable ads.

A seller profit calculator shows what you actually keep after product cost, shipping, platform fees and ad spend — not just your selling price.
Break-even ROAS is 1 ÷ your gross margin %. At 40% margin, break-even ROAS is 2.5x. Below that, you are losing money on ads even if ROAS looks positive.
Max CAC is the most you can spend to get one order — on ads — before you lose money. It equals your gross profit before ads. Example: if gross profit is $19.18, spending $10 per order leaves $9.18, spending $19.18 breaks even, and spending $20 loses $0.82 on that order.
Actual ROAS is your actual revenue divided by your actual ad spend, per order. 10.00x means $10 of sales revenue for every $1 of ad spend — for example $3.50 ad spend and $35.00 revenue. It is revenue, not profit, so always compare it with Break-even ROAS: above break-even is profitable, below break-even loses money even if the number looks high.
In this calculator: $0.20 listing + 6.5% transaction + 3% + $0.25 payment processing, before Offsite Ads.
Referral fee (15% in most categories; 8% electronics, 17% clothing above $20, 20% jewelry, 45% device accessories, on price + shipping charged, excluding tax) plus a manual FBA fee, default $3.57 for a small-standard item including the 3.5% surcharge. FBA fees vary by size, weight and price band, which is why v1 asks you to enter your fee.

The $39 / $105 / $399 plan is paid monthly whether you sell 10 orders or 1,000, so it cannot be a fair per-order fee on its own. The calculator labels this clearly instead of pretending it is zero.
On Basic it adds 2% of revenue. In the locked example that is $0.70 extra, taking profit from $19.18 to $18.48.
Basic via Shopify Payments (2.9% + $0.30). Grow and Advanced have different Shopify Payments rates, so check the official Shopify pricing page if you sell on those plans.
Try these numbers in the calculator above: selling price $34.99, product cost $14.50, no shipping, no ad spend.
Shopify fee = 2.9% × $34.99 + $0.30 = $1.31. Net profit = $19.18. Gross margin = 54.8%, break-even ROAS = 1.82x, Max CAC = $19.18. With the third-party gateway box checked, the fee becomes $2.01 and profit falls to $18.48.
Why is profit 'before monthly plan cost'? The $39 / $105 / $399 plan is paid monthly whether you sell 10 orders or 1,000, so it cannot be a fair per-order fee on its own. The calculator labels this clearly instead of pretending it is zero.
What changes with a third-party gateway? On Basic it adds 2% of revenue. In the example above that is $0.70 extra, taking profit from $19.18 to $18.48.
Which plan does the 2.9% assume? Basic via Shopify Payments (2.9% + $0.30). Grow and Advanced have different Shopify Payments rates, so re-check the official Shopify pricing page before launch if you sell on those plans.
